The Scientific Committee

A Scientific Committee was established by decision No. 33-05-93 of May 17, 1993, to assist the Governor of the BCEAO in defining the orientations and practical modalities of the training policy to be implemented by COFEB.

The Committee deals with issues relating to training session organization and programming and examines applications for the degree program. It also makes recommendations on the criteria applicable to the selection of candidates for the various sessions of the degree program.

The composition of the COFEB Scientific Committee is as follows:

  • The Deputy Governor of the BCEAO responsible for supervising COFEB activities, Chairman of the Committee;
  • The General Manager of the West African Center for Banking Studies and Training;
  • The Director of Research and Partnerships, Rapporteur;
  • The Director of Teaching and Training Programs;
  • The Director of Career and Competence Management of the BCEAO;
  • A Representative of the West African Development Bank (BOAD);
  • The Director General of the African Center for Advanced Studies in Management (CESAG);
  • The Secretary General of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES);
  • The President of Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD), Senegal;
  • The Director of the Center for Studies and Research on International Development (CERDI), France;
  • A University Professor appointed intuitu personae; 
  • The Head of the International Banking and Finance Institute (IBFI) of Banque de France;
  • A Representative of the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU);
  • A Representative of the President of the WAMU Council of Ministers; and
  • The President of the Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions of one of the WAMU Member States (chosen on a rotating basis).
