On February 17, 2025, COFEB organized an online seminar on “Finance for a Green and Sustainable Transition”. The seminar raised participants’ awareness of the challenges of green finance and introduced them to the fundamentals of the ecological transition, the existing mechanisms, and their economic implications. It was attended by fifty executives from across the WAEMU banking and financial ecosystem.

The proceedings focused on the economic impacts of the climate crisis, the sustainable transition and related financial issues, as well as financial instruments for the sustainable transition, the role of the public authorities, and greenwashing practices.

The sessions were facilitated by Robin Edme, an Expert at First Finance France. The seminar ended on February 27, 2025.
