Strategy

Changes and developments in the banking sector specifically related to the ongoing digital transformation have a major impact on management strategies, inevitably pushing banking and financial regulatory frameworks to ever new limits. In light of this situation, senior managers are justified in expecting early answers to the important questions they face. 

  • How can they guide their teams through these new challenges?
  •  How can they protect their assets and interests in the new digital ecosystem?
  •  How can they ensure cybersecurity and respond to risks of cybercrime?
  •  How can they innovate and maintain competitiveness in an uncertain legal environment?

 These are just some of the questions to which this course provides clear and practical answers. 

Objective(s)

This new program, which covers key skills for bank managers, aims to foster an understanding of the pillars of the new digital economy and the attendant legal, economic, and geopolitical risks. It equips bank managers with a standardized toolbox to enable them to master the challenges that lie ahead. More specifically, it focuses on ways to:

  • Cultivate the art of leadership,
  • Identify the new dimensions of asset and interest valuation in the new digital ecosystem,
  • Explore the best responses to address cybersecurity issues and protect against risks of cybercrime,
  • Develop a strategic perspective on how to navigate the digital regulatory environment, ensure compliance and prevent disputes,
  • Maintain digital bank management performance and leadership, and
  • Gain an understanding of internal resource management tools and standards in the context of digital transformation.

Teaching methods

The training will be led by experts from HEC Paris. Special emphasis will be placed on use of information and communication technologies, including online classes, through the following methods:

  • Alternating theory, group work and virtual classroom discussions,
  • Mostly remote training using specially designed teaching modules. Face-to-face modules to stimulate group dynamics,
  • Experience sharing and exchanges of best practices, cross-cutting case studies based on data and concerns submitted by the participants, and
  • Success stories from top executives and senior officials.

This course targets strategic players in the banking and financial system value chain as well as senior management in the productive sector, i.e. operational executives and department directors, and particularly:

  • LMembers of financial institution management committees,
  • Business executives and senior civil servants,
  • Experienced managers and team leaders, and
  • High-potential executives.
