Topical conference on “African Eurobonds and COVID-19: Announcement Effects and Global Liquidity” (Video)
Objectives
- To better understand how the international Eurobond financial market operates;
- To discuss the benefits and risks of an international financial market, especially for developing and emerging countries; and
- To highlight the consequences of Eurobond issues on African economies, especially in the current context characterized by a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

- COFEB students;
- CESAG;
- AWAMU Securities Agency (AUT); and
- Entities in charge of debt management within the economic and financial administrations of the Member States of the Union.
Speaker
Professor Babacar Sène is an Associate University Professor and a lecturer-researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (UCAD). He is also the Director of the Applied Economic Research Center (AERC) and the Development Finance Laboratory (Laboratoire de Finances pour le Développement - LAFIDEV) in Dakar.
Professor Babacar Sène also delivers a course on financial market theory at COFEB for students of the degree program. He supervises doctoral theses and participates in thesis defense juries across Africa. As an active researcher, he participates in high-level conferences around the world on the issue of African sovereign debt.
